Portugal braces for a strong cold snap on Monday and Tuesday, and possibly snowfall

Portugal is ready for the peak of its cold snap on Monday and Tuesday next week, according to thePortuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The cold snap will see temperatures reach -10 ° C to Serra da Estrela, -7 ° C to Bragança and -1 ° C at Porto.

La Filomena depression arrived in mainland Portugal on Friday and will bring rain and possibly snowfall.

According to the IPMA, temperatures this year are considerably lower. The country saw temperatures between two and five degrees below normal for this time of year on Friday.

Le Faro Council last week increased the help it provides to the homeless due to the cold snap, and last month, a temporary shelter has been set up at Portimão to provide the city's homeless with a safe and warm place to spend the night.
